Colour & Appearance

Luminous golden yellow with greenish reflections – a visual fingerprint of the Atlantic freshness in this Muscadet.

Nose

Here the wine reveals its fascinating duality: Atlantic nobility meets complex yeast aromatics. Salted butter on toasted brioche, mirabelle plums, ripe peach and yellow apples mingle with shortcrust pastry and hints of bee sting cake – never veering into sweetness. Remarkable are the metallic nuances reminiscent of blood, paired with chopped almonds, hazelnuts and dried herbs. Fresh seaweed, oyster shell and sea spray underscore the maritime provenance impressively.

Palate

Convincing from the first moment: creaminess and pressure in perfect balance. The dense texture is threaded through with salt and minerality, whilst moderate acidity provides structure without ever becoming sharp. The stony character dominates – multi-layered, demanding, precise. Balanced fruit, spicy herbal notes that lend freshness and depth. The finish returns to the creamy side, soothing yet equally demanding. A wine with two faces: intellectually challenging or simply pleasurable to drink – depending on what you seek.

Terroir & Origin

The registered vineyard site La Butte de la Roche on the Atlantic coast offers extraordinary terroir: peridotite-serpentinite of magmatic origin from the Earth’s mantle. These rare soils fundamentally shape the wine’s mineral, almost blood-like character.

Grape Variety & Vinification

Melon de Bourgogne in pure form. Whole-bunch pressing in pneumatic press, cool fermentation in concrete tanks, amphorae and porcelain vessels – a combination that creates complexity and texture. The yeast imparts additional depth without heaviness.

Food Pairing Suggestions

Poached oysters Rockefeller style, seafood salad with sugar snap peas and lemon gel, grilled corn with corn cream, fresh peas and toasted almond slivers. Fundamentally an ideal companion to everything the sea has to offer.
