Wine Description for Sauvignon Blanc Buntsandstein 2024 by Michael Andres

Colour & Appearance
Radiant, pale golden yellow with distinctive green reflections – a visual promise of the freshness this wine delivers in the glass.
Nose
Here Sauvignon Blanc reveals its classically elegant side: cool and finely structured, without the sometimes intrusive intensity of many examples of this variety. Wild mint, sage and a hint of nettle open the aromatic play, followed by exotic nuances of young mango, papaya and grapefruit. The nose is like a mountain spring – clear, pure and enticing.
Palate
Michael Andres demonstrates his knack for creating an inviting Sauvignon here: the wine flows effortlessly across the palate, refreshingly vibrant and with a remarkable balance between fruit and herbal spice. The herbal notes from the nose return, blending elegantly with the fruity components. A vital acidity keeps everything taut without dominating.
Finish
Medium length with a fine mineral note that recalls the eponymous Buntsandstein subsoil. The aftertaste remains refreshing and makes you want another sip.
Terroir & Origin
From the Palatinate, where Michael Andres works on Buntsandstein soils – a terroir that gives Sauvignon Blanc that mineral precision and freshness which distinguishes this wine.
Grape Variety & Vinification
100% Sauvignon Blanc, vinified with a focus on purity and drinkability. With a moderate 12% alcohol, the wine remains light-footed and elegant – a Sauvignon for enjoyment, not for overthinking.
Food Pairing Suggestions
Perfect with goat’s cheese, grilled asparagus with herb butter, ceviche, Thai salads or scallops on pea purée. Also a delight on its own on the terrace on a summer evening.
Special Characteristics
This is Sauvignon Blanc as it should be: characterful but not overdone, refreshing without harshness, complex without effort. A wine where the bottle empties faster than you’d think – and that is expressly meant as a compliment here.
