Nose
The "Riesling Schlossberg Grand Cru" from Domaine Weinbach is as dense as it is consistent, powerful and "leafy" - a stealthy foray through the forests around Kaysersberg down into the Weiss Valley, past quince trees, from whose fruit someone has baked a beguiling "tarte tatin". A tiny pinch of vanilla, the brightly scented green of anise and fennel notes, the powdery white of crushed stones nestle against it.
Palate
Still powerful, elegant and with the presence of an organ point above which an astonishingly ripe, yet completely youthful chorale is intoned Butter pastry, a croissant with tart fruit puree, then riper stone fruit, which is immediately complemented and counteracted by stimulating juicy citrus fruit and correspondingly stimulating, dancing acidity. The lungs of this wine have not yet fully developed, with a little air it still gains in structure and complexity, the minerality in the finish gets even more depth. The most beautiful snapshot comes after a good two days in the carafe The wine as a sculpture!
