Wine Tasting Notes for Riesling Furstentum Grand Cru 2019 by Domaine Albert Mann

Colour & Appearance
Presents in a medium straw yellow in the glass.
Nose
A subtle, elegantly restrained interplay of aromas: fragrant orange blossom and linden blossom meet exotic pineapple and fresh lemon. Beneath lies a profound, stony and slightly earthy minerality that builds anticipation for the first sip.
Palate
On the palate, this Riesling reveals itself to be lively and saline. Fine, noticeable tannins endow the wine with a noble texture and remarkable grip. Ripe notes of pineapple and juicy lemon blend stylishly with subtly tart accents of orange peel and grapefruit. Despite its power, it comes across as both silky and piquant at once.
Finish
The finish is long, persistently aromatic, exceptionally juicy and fleshy.
Terroir & Origin
The grapes stem from approximately 30-year-old vines in the Kientzheim Furstentum Grand Cru in Alsace. The subsoil of limestone and limestone scree imparts remarkable structure and saline depth to the Riesling. Across its nearly one hundred parcels, the estate works strictly biodynamically and is Demeter-certified.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Varietal Riesling, vinified dry at 14.0% ABV. Brothers-in-law Maurice and Jacky Barthelmé rely on gentle handiwork in the vineyard and allow nature the necessary freedom in the cellar.
Food Pairings
Excellent with loin of cod with spring vegetables and Thai broth, fine grilled lobster with sweet Indian spices or a delicate scallop carpaccio with kumquats.
Key Features
An aristocratic Grand Cru boasting impressive tannic grip and immense mineral tension, defined by the biodynamic philosophy of Domaine Albert Mann.
