The Scarbolo winery is located in the Friuli Colli Orientali, the eastern hills of Friuli. There, Mattia and his sister Lara have been running the business founded by their father since 1997. Matteo, who had initially ended up in the world of finance in New York, felt the desire to return to his home turf. Lara had already studied in Udine and Bordeaux and worked for Franz Haas and Vie di Romans, among others. Matteo, on the other hand, was inspired by personalities such as Luca Roagna and Arianna Occhipinti. The siblings immediately switched to organic and biodynamic farming methods, downsized by 30 % and streamlined the range in order to produce some of the most distinctive wines in Friuli in the future. Pinot Grigio in all its possible facets, which are still far too rarely explored today, takes centre stage.
