The monopollage of 1 ha is located near the Grand Cru Hengst, it is the only Clos in Alsace planted with 100 % Pinot Noir.
It is divided into three sections. The upper part consists of pink Vosges sandstone, mottled sandstone and calcareous sandstone. In the middle, there is grey shell limestone with a very fine grain and yellow Jura rock, and in the lower part, a mixture of Vosges sandstone and white and pink quartz. The vines were planted between 1998 and 2002.

Nose
First of all, it should be noted that great things have been happening at Domaine Albert Mann in Alsace for some years now in terms of Pinot Noir. After a sensational 2015, the 2016 also meets all high expectations. Obscure and accompanied by a slight spiciness, the attack of this wine starts. Blackcurrant and dark sweet cherries. A little black pepper resonates. Rosehip and freshly cracked plums join in. Morello cherries, a little cigar box and delicate nuances of thyme round off the aromatic picture.
Palate
On the palate it then shows itself much brighter and clearer than the nose suggests. The currant becomes red, the cherries sour. The rose hips and plums also reappear. Enormously juicy and with plenty of draw, this Pinot Noir is dangerously good to drink this young. The acidity literally grabs you and seems extraordinarily sexy at this stage. A delicate tannin expertly accompanies this moment. The fine cool minerality dresses this Pinot Noir in a robe of red silk. And this suits it particularly well.
