Wine Description for Pinot Gris 2024 from Domaine Albert Mann

Colour & Appearance
Luminous golden yellow with brilliant clarity and delicate green reflections – a promising first impression in the glass.
Nose
Fresh and inviting, this Pinot Gris presents itself with an aromatic interplay of peach and mirabelle plum, underpinned by lime and apricot. Subtle notes of white flowers, ginger and a hint of anise lend complexity to the bouquet, whilst bright nutty nuances provide additional depth.
Palate
The attack is powerful yet silky, with a pleasant salinity that gives the wine tension. The vibrant acidity carries the juicy fruit elegantly and creates a remarkable balance between power and finesse. The fine minerality of the gravel and marl soils shines through, making this Pinot Gris a truly gastronomic companion.
Finish
Persistently fresh with saline minerality and a delicate fruit sweetness that tempts you to take another sip.
Terroir & Origin
The grapes come from various parcels in Kientzheim and Wettolsheim in Alsace. The approximately 20-year-old vines are rooted in gravel and marl-limestone soils, which impart the wine’s characteristic minerality.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Hand-harvested Pinot Gris, gently processed in a pneumatic press. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks with wild yeasts, followed by ageing on fine lees. Unfiltered and unfined – an authentic expression of the 2024 vintage, which despite a rainy July impressed with a sunny August and produced wines of great elegance.
Food Pairing Suggestions
An ideal partner for Asian cuisine, particularly Thai curries or Vietnamese summer rolls. Excellent with pan-fried monkfish, scallops or pork with ginger. The saline minerality harmonises perfectly with oysters or sushi.
Special Features
With only 2.9 g/l residual sugar, a decidedly dry Pinot Gris that underscores Domaine Albert Mann’s modern, elegant style. A wine for enjoyable drinking „without moderation“, as the estate itself recommends.
