Out of stock

This is a deep and fine wine that seems round and that is already so open and easy to drink that it will be difficult to keep any of it in the cellar. Violet red - The Pinot Noir from the core vineyard Île de Vergelesses is a fascinatingly lively, inviting Pinot, in which the absence of sulphur is hardly noticeable olfactorically.

Wine information

The Pinot Noir comes from the 9.41 hectare Premier Cru site Île de Vergelesses in Pernand-Vergelesses. The site is framed by Savigny's Les Vergelesses as well as Pernand's Les Vergelesses. The quality of the terroir is higher than that of all the other Premier Cru sites in the village and is actually at Grand Cru level. The terroir of Pernand-Vergelesses, similar to that at Corton Hill, is characterized by siliceous and calcareous red marl that has a high iron content. The domaine has 13.31 hectares of average 40-year-old vines, some of them even 80-year-old vines, facing east.

Violet Red

Nose

The Pinot Noir from the core site Île de Vergelesses is a fascinatingly lively, inviting Pinot, in which the absence of sulfur is hardly noticeable olfactorically. The otherwise often so obvious sweet yeast notes are not present. Instead, there are black cherries, a few plums and wild berries. Overall, the wine is aromatically quite dark with fine wood perfume and fragrant notes of violets, roses and herbs.

Mouth

On the palate, the Pinot has a currently just perfect balance of delicacy, power, freshness and substance. It is a wine characterized by fresh dark fruit, through which a striking ripe tannin runs, which is accompanied by an equally ripe acidity and a present minerality. This is a deep and fine wine, which seems round and which is already so open and easy to drink that it will be difficult to keep some of it in the cellar.
