Wine Description for Nahesteiner Weissburgunder 2023 from Diel

Colour & Appearance
Sparkling, pale golden yellow in the glass – luminous and inviting, with brilliant clarity.
Nose
Beautifully expressive: apple, pear and quince meet notes of a summer meadow in full bloom. These are joined by almonds, toasted baguette, anise and fennel herb – an aromatic complexity that already reveals its gastronomic calling on the nose.
Palate
Juicy and precise with fine mineral texture that does full justice to its Nahe origin. The oak influence is subtle and skilfully integrated, lending the wine structure without being obtrusive. Spicy notes accompany the lively drinking experience.
Finish
Medium length with persistent spice and fine freshness – a finale that invites the next sip.
Terroir & Origin
From the renowned Schlossgut Diel on the Nahe, one of Germany’s great Weissburgunder addresses. The mineral character reflects the region’s characteristic soils.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Weissburgunder (Pinot Blanc) gently pressed. Fermentation and maturation partly in stainless steel tanks, partly in wooden barrels from native oak forests – a combination that elegantly unites freshness and depth. With moderate 12.5% alcohol, the wine remains light-footed and approachable.
Food Pairing Recommendations
A versatile food companion par excellence. Ideal with roasted turbot, veal schnitzel with mushroom cream, risotto with porcini mushrooms, roasted cauliflower with hazelnut butter or creamy goat’s cheese variations. Particularly recommended with dishes featuring earthy and nutty components.
Special Features
A Weissburgunder that bears the hallmark of the Diel house: precise, terroir-focused and conceived with gastronomy in mind. The 2023 vintage shows itself accessible and yet with sufficient substance for years to come.
