Wine Description for Mason DOC 2022 by Manincor

Character
The Mason DOC 2022 by Manincor embodies what South Tyrolean Pinot Noir stands for: alpine precision, cool elegance and an almost meditative stillness that distinguishes great Burgundy wines. With 13.5% vol. it moves within a balanced framework that promises both freshness and depth – crafted dry, without any concession to opulence.
Terroir & Origin
The Manincor winery at Lake Caldaro ranks among South Tyrol’s most renowned addresses. The Dolomites decisively shape the climate: cool nights, intense sunshine and well-ventilated hillside vineyards create ideal conditions for slow, aromatically complex ripening. The 2022 vintage was warm and dry in South Tyrol, producing wines with ripe fruit but – with careful hand-harvesting – also with preserved acidity structure.
Grape Variety & Vinification
The Pinot Noir – traditionally called Spätburgunder in South Tyrol – is one of the world’s most demanding grape varieties. In the hands of Manincor, renowned for a biodynamic farming approach and artisanal care, it unfolds its full potential: filigree structure, silky texture and that characteristic transparency of terroir that distinguishes great Pinot Noir. The ageing is conducted with restraint, so as not to overpower the natural elegance of the variety.
Food Pairing Recommendations
The cool aromatics and fine tannin structure make this wine a versatile table companion. Recommended pairings include game dishes such as venison fillet or wild boar ragout, but also grilled lamb rack with seasonal herbs. It also pairs elegantly with mushroom risotto, truffle dishes or a mature Pinot Noir-friendly cheese like Taleggio. A wine that sparks conversation at the table – and that is perhaps the finest compliment.
