Origin and terroir
Harvested from the sun-drenched slopes of Rubatsch in Terlan and the panoramic Seehof in Kaltern, with the majority of the grapes coming from the former. Rubatsch shines at an altitude of 250 m with gentle sandy soil over porphyry weathered rock, while Seehof proudly presents its loamy limestone gravel at the same altitude with a view of the lake. The former provides a fine, elegant note, while the latter gives the wine power and structure.

Maturation process
The process begins with natural fermentation in wooden barrels, supported by the grapes' own yeasts. Two weeks of maceration and daily submersion of the pomace allow for the careful extraction of the colour and tannins. The wine then enjoys sixteen months of ageing in barriques, with only every fifth barrel fresh.

Optics
Deep violet red characterises this wine, which appears almost black at the heart and is slightly lightened at the edges.

Bouquet
The Lagrein Rubatsch 2020 captures the senses with its powerful aroma of blackberries, elderberries and sour cherries. Vanilla notes mingle with a herbal mix of rosemary, thyme and ivy. A dark, intense aroma world is accompanied by peaty tones and a hint of noble dark chocolate. A youthful, fresh bouquet paired with intense power.

Taste
Refreshing, youthful tannins meet juicy, dark fruits. Already an attractive wine that enchants with its salty minerality, powerful flavour and dark fruitiness. Ideal with hearty meat dishes and braised meats.

Food recommendation
Try a beetroot risotto with almonds and sage, braised beef cheeks with shallots and polenta or a juicy flank steak with rosemary, served with a berry salad.
