Wine description for La Manina IGT 2023 from Manincor

Colour & appearance

Brilliant pale yellow with lively green reflections that emphasise the youthfulness and freshness of this South Tyrolean white wine.

Nose

A captivating bouquet of remarkable precision. The aroma reveals an elegant composition of fresh quince, pear essence and delicate honeydew melon, accompanied by subtle notes of blossom honey and a hint of aniseed. The fragrance evokes an alpine summer meadow in full bloom - a signature of the cool high altitudes of South Tyrol.

Palate

On the palate, La Manina shows an impressive balance between texture and tension. The Biodynamic winemaking is reflected in the vibrant liveliness. The Pinot Blanc lends structure, the Chardonnay creamy richness, while the Sauvignon Blanc provides aromatic complexity. The six months on the fine lees have created a silky texture without masking the crystalline acidity structure. The finish presents a striking salty minerality - a fingerprint of the terroir of the Dolomites.

General information

This cuvée of Pinot Blanc (43%), Chardonnay (36%) and Sauvignon Blanc (21%) epitomises the modern South Tyrolean wine style. Gentle pressing with six hours of skin contact and spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts emphasise the terroir notes. With 13% alcohol and minimal residual sweetness, the wine is taut and focussed.

Food pairing suggestions

A versatile food companion that harmonises particularly well with pickled char, Zander with lime and light herbal notes as well as baked goat cheese. Its salty minerality also makes it the ideal partner for seafood and dishes with Asian spices.

Special features

The 2023 vintage is an outstanding representative of Manincor's biodynamic philosophy. The combination of younger own vineyards in Mareit and selected certified organic grapes creates a wine of remarkable authenticity. A perfect example of how precise cellar work can capture the natural expressiveness of the South Tyrolean mountain landscape.
