Info

The winery is a member of the "respekt-Bioydyn" group and complies with this quality guideline.

2022 was contrary to most parts of Europe in the Kamptal. The year, which was considered hot and dry, had some of the highest rainfall. At the beginning of the harvest, rainfall amounts corresponding to other annual amounts were measured between April and September.

The Peronospera pressure was correspondingly high and repeatedly caused heavy losses. August was then very dry and brought ripening forward, before a rainy September made the start of the harvest difficult again.

The harvest for this wine took place from mid-September to mid-October. Most of the grapes were pressed whole and some were left to macerate for a while.

70% were fermented spontaneously in steel, 30% in large wooden barrels with 2,500l capacity. It was then aged in steel tanks on the fine lees until bottling, about three to four months.

80% are on loess and 20% on gneiss. The age of the vines varies greatly from 5 to 50 years.

The yield is rated at 45-55hl per hectare.

Color

Sparkling lemon yellow with golden and bright reflections

Nose

Abundant wet stones and herb garden in the morning dew flow from the glass. It shows a slightly smoky to spicy character. Some flint, damp earth and a deep dark balsamic tone characterise it here at the beginning. Then it drops the curtain and clears the stage for a multitude of herbs. Melissa, lemon thyme and sage are dominant. A little mint, wheat grass and wood sorrel come in handy. Lemon grass and coriander give a touch of the Far East. The fruit is clearly subordinate. Freshly cut nashi pears and mirabelle plums are only subtly perceptible.

Palate

It continues this very well on the palate. Totally clear and racy at the beginning. Its aroma language is lean and straightforward. At the same time, it is enormously quiet and restrained. A fine acid structure tames its pressure and keeps it on the linear track. On the palate, the two fruits mentioned come into their own much better. Above all, the nashi pear shapes the aroma play. It shows edge and class at the same time. It gives each sip a lot of drinking flow.
