Wine Description for Weissburgunder Ried Gollin 1.ÖTW 2022 by Hajszan Neumann

Colour & Appearance
Shimmering medium gold-yellow with distinct silvery reflections – a wine that already reveals its maturity and substance in the glass.
Nose
Impressively juicy and multi-layered. Ripe pears and honeydew melon dominate the opening, accompanied by delicate meadow flowers, anise and saffron. With air contact, a fascinating maritime dimension unfolds: sea breeze and oyster shell lend the Weissburgunder a Burgundian complexity and depth that invites immediate tasting.
Palate
Yeasty-creamy and simultaneously refreshing – a fascinating balancing act. The texture is silky, whilst fine notes of apple and pear skin contribute a spicy, slightly tannic structure. The wine whets the appetite, demands food, shows substance without heaviness. A Weissburgunder with character and considerable ageing potential.
Terroir & Origin
The Ried Gollin on Vienna’s Nussberg is a First Growth (1.ÖTW) with limestone and weathered shell limestone soils that contain a high clay content. This mineral foundation gives the wine its tension and ageing ability – classic Viennese terroir at its finest.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Biodynamic viticulture according to Rudolf Steiner, hand-harvested with selection. Six hours of skin contact, gentle pressing, spontaneous fermentation with natural yeasts in large wooden barrels. Medium yeast ageing time, gentle filtration. Completely unfiltered and vegan – a Weissburgunder that requires no intervention and is all the more authentic for it.
Food Pairing Recommendations
This wine demands hearty cuisine: veal brisket, pan-fried char or pike-perch with butter sauce. Perfect also with poultry in cream sauce, risotto with porcini mushrooms or aged Comté. The creamy texture and spicy structure make it an ideal food companion.
Special Features
First Growth (1.ÖTW) from biodynamic viticulture. A Weissburgunder that combines Burgundian character with Viennese terroir – and in doing so proves that Austrian Pinot Blanc operates on equal footing with international benchmarks.
