Info
The Schlossberg is located around Winkelberg Castle. The vine rows face south and form the edge of the Wagram. The vines are about 40 years old and stand at 220 metres above sea level. Loess forms the fertile overlay. Underneath lies a layer of Danube pebbles, which in turn is based on a layer of clay and maritime sediments.
After the manual harvest, the grapes are fermented spontaneously in 2000l oak barrels, where they are allowed to rest on their lees for two months before being bottled without filtration or fining.
Color
Juicy bright lemon yellow with green reflections
Nose
The nose varies seductively between green and yellow. Lime, kaffir lime leaves and a little bergamot on one side. On the other, khaki, mirabelle plum and pear. Wonderfully balanced. The ethereal, earthy character of the kaffir lime is particularly beguiling. Fennel, artichoke and a little sugar beet complement this very successfully. A hint of mint and eucalyptus provide it with cooling ethereal freshness. Hints of roasted fennel seeds, nettle and a little verbena reveal themselves.
Palate
On the nose, it is immediately captivating. The fruit density is enormously present, but bundles very well into a clear tendency towards the palate. This is enormously juicy and at the same time full of density. Fortunately, the acidity keeps breaking through its compact core. This makes the drinking pleasure enormously exciting and varied. The alternating bath of yellow and green aromas continues on the palate. In the aftertaste, the green, herbal and citrus flavours gain the upper hand. Very appealing Grüner Veltliner, far from fullness and sluggishness. Enormous life and tension characterise it.
