Wine Description for Gluegglich Rosé 2024 by Loimer

Colour & Appearance
Luminous coral in the glass – a brilliant, inviting colour that promises summer lightness.
Nose
Here the full duality of this unusual rosé reveals itself: initially it seduces with cherries, strawberries, raspberries, watermelon and pomelo – almost like a sweet. Yet beneath lies an earthy, authentic side with hay, oatflakes, herbs and a hint of tobacco. This complexity elevates the wine far above conventional summer rosés.
Palate
On the palate, the sweetness of the nose disappears – instead a creamy fullness unfolds with herbal-spicy bitterness. Despite the lively freshness, a southern character emerges with liquorice notes. The wine feels round and self-assured, with fine texture and mouth-watering salinity. Red fruit and citrus notes provide tension and drinkability.
Finish
Medium length with lingering herbal spice and a saline minerality that invites the next sip.
Terroir & Origin
The grapes come from old vineyard sites in Langenlois and Gumpoldskirchen in the Kamptal – two locations that lend the rosé its characteristic depth and connection to the soil.
Grape Variety & Vinification
An exciting cuvée of Pinot Noir, St. Laurent and Zweigelt. Spontaneous fermentation with 5% whole-bunch content, maturation in wood and stainless steel on full and fine lees. Unfiltered, unfined and bottled with minimal 15 mg/L sulphites – a natural approach that is clearly evident in the glass.
Food Pairing Suggestions
Perfect with grilled fish, grilled squid, Vitello Tonnato, tomato and mozzarella with basil or Provençal vegetables. Also an excellent choice with sushi and light Asian dishes.
Special Features
At just 11.5% alcohol, a light-footed yet by no means lightweight rosé. The name „gluegglich“ is programme – this wine truly makes you happy through its balance between drinkability and substance.
