Wine description for Gewürztraminer Steingrubler Grand Cru 2019 from Domaine Albert Mann

Colour & appearance

Bright lemon yellow with greenish reflections, this Grand Cru presents itself crystal clear in the glass - a visual promise of the aromatic complexity that is to follow.

Nose

This is where all the magic of Gewürztraminer unfolds in its purest form. Mango and Cantaloupe melon merge with Candied orange peel and Dried apricots to create a tropical-Mediterranean bouquet. Beneath this, subtle spicy notes of Mace and white pepper while a hint of light tobacco leaf provides additional depth. A flavour profile that alternates between fruit and spice - typical Gewürztraminer, but with the finesse of a Grand Cru vineyard.

Palate

The true class of this Steingrubler is revealed on the palate: 43 grams of residual sugar are masterfully integrated by a brilliant acid structure and mineral precision. The creamy texture carries the clear fruit flavours, while the finely tart phenolics lend contour to the sweetness. Calcareous sandstone soils manifest themselves in a striking minerality that gives the wine tension and length. A Gewürztraminer of rare elegance and vitality.

General information

This Grand Cru comes from the south-east facing Steingrubler vineyard in Wettolsheim, where 30-year-old vines are rooted in calcareous sandstone soils. With 13% alcohol and moderate residual sweetness, it epitomises the Alsace terroir at its finest.

Food pairing suggestions

Ideal for Sweet potato soup with Madras currywhere the spicy notes correspond harmoniously. Equally brilliant with Monkfish on fennel risotto or the spicy Pork Vindaloo - the residual sweetness perfectly balances the spiciness of exotic cuisine.

Special features

A Gewürztraminer that shows why this grape variety in Alsace is world-class: opulence meets finesse, exoticism meets terroir expression. A wine for connoisseurs who appreciate the extraordinary.
