Nose
The 2013 Gewurztraminer Calcaire from Zind-Humbrecht is a reserved type. Typical for the variety in the nose, but without folkloric regalia. It is more the thought of the rose petal than its fragrance itself that leans out of the glass with slightly tropical fruit like lychee, thus identifying it as "Gewurz".
Mouth
The cultivation on lime trims the formula of the Gewurztraminer in a pleasant way. No cascades of candied rose on the palate either, but a very disciplined fruit, candied orange peel, pickled ginger as well as a light floral aroma and fine spice and minerality. The lime gives it freshness, the acidity is finely woven and the delicate residual sweetness is dazzlingly integrated. A sensational drinking Traminer.
