Franz Keller
Fritz Keller and his son Friedrich represent the second and third generation. Friedrich has taken over the sceptre and tinkers with the smallest details to take his father's high-quality legacy to the next level. This begins with the uncompromising and consistent quality awareness that starts with the work in the vineyard. The labels have also been visually adapted to modernity and thus to a younger audience.
The bass fiddle
With just under 40 hectares of vineyards, this is an ambitious project, but the success of the last vintages speaks for itself. Friedrich has succeeded in freeing a wine like the Pinot Gris from the Oberbergener Bassgeige from its dreary existence of days gone by and breathed life and freshness into it. Today, his wines stand for a tight structure, finesse and elegance.
The Keller family has always had a broad-based business. In addition to viticulture, they also run a wine trade as well as outstanding gastronomy with an international reputation. The proximity to France and the culinary arts has been a source of inspiration in winemaking for all three generations. The Kellers' wines are always designed to accompany high-quality cuisine - from large tasting menus to Baden classics.
State of the art
A building integrated into the terraced vineyards of the Kaiserstuhl connects the winery, vinotheque and one of the restaurants. The building is dug into the rock and provides climatically ideal conditions. Grapes can also be transported extremely gently from the harvest to the bottle by means of gravity. Architecturally, the building nestles perfectly into the natural surroundings.
Especially in the category of the Erste Lage, the wines offer an almost unbelievable price-pleasure ratio. Pulverbuck Weißburgunder is sensationally good. The balance of vibration, digestibility and drinkability is the common denominator. The Grosse Gewächse wines offer another clear improvement. Especially with the Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir), a whole five sites are listed in the highest category. A true Eldorado for Pinot Noir fans.
