Info
The Spätburgunder vom Löss is Fritz Keller's entry into the world of Pinot Noir. The vines are planted on the lighter soils. All Pinot Noirs at the winery are aged in barriques. However, only used barrels are used for the estate wine.
0.3g/l residual sugar are remarkably dry.
Color
Bright, velvety cherry red with light reflections and a slightly watery edge
Nose
2021 Pinot Noir vom Löss has a wonderful combination of fruit and spice. Ripe strawberry, sweet and sour cherry as well as a hint of tart redcurrant are the prelude. This is accompanied by plenty of balsamic and earthy flavours. Undergrowth, damp forest floor, cedar wood and tree bark are clearly recognisable here. Some moss has a revitalising effect. Black pepper and juniper are the spicy components. Fir branches provide an ethereal nuance.
Palate
With a precisely stated 0.6g residual sugar per litre, it is absolutely in the consistently dry range. And yet the fruit manages to convey a juicy, sweet centre. It is clearly reminiscent of biting into a handful of perfectly ripe strawberries and sour cherries. Full of juice and yet interrupted by a fine, crisp acidity structure. Fruit and acidity work in symbiosis here. Uncomplicated and yet appealing. Lots of fruit with great drinking pleasure. The ethereal spiciness, now dominated by eucalyptus, sets accents on the finish.
