Wine description for Civranetta Prosecco DOC Spumante Rosè Brut Nature 2023 from Fidora

In the rolling hills of Veneto, where the Venetian lagoon shimmers in the distance, a Prosecco is created that embodies the essence of this historic wine region. The Civranetta Rosè Brut Nature is not just a sparkling wine - it is an expression of the biodynamic ethos that the Fidora winery has lived by for almost half a century. Here, on Pleistocene Caranto soils that tell of thousands of years of geological history, tradition and ecological awareness come together in a glass full of vibrant elegance.

Visual impression

The glass reveals a delicate salmon pink colour with subtle orange reflections reminiscent of the sun setting over the Venetian lagoon. The perlage is lively and precise - fine, continuous bubbles rise like strings of pearls and bear witness to careful vinification. The visual impression already promises the freshness and precision that characterise this Brut Nature.

Nose

The bouquet unfolds with remarkable transparency. It begins with a symphony of red fruits - wild wild strawberries reminiscent of sunlit glades, delicate raspberries and striking cranberries with their characteristic acidity. These fruit flavours are surrounded by a clear presence of red-cheeked apples, whose freshness reflects the cool sea breeze that blows through the vineyards. The floral notes are not intrusive, but blend in harmoniously: hollyhocks and mallow impart a certain nobility, while elderflower adds a subtle spiciness. The fragrance is neither contrived nor overloaded, but reveals the natural expressiveness of the biodynamically cultivated vines.

Palate

On the palate, the wine displays impressive precision. The first encounter is characterised by a lively, fine-pearled mousse that carries the wine lightly over the tongue. The uncompromising dryness - a true Brut Nature without dosage - emphasises the purity of the expression. The extract is remarkably rich for a sparkling wine in this category, giving it an unexpected depth.

The fruit flavours of the nose are echoed on the palate, but are supported by a fine phenolic structure thanks to the Pinot Nero. This subtle texture gives the wine a dimension that lifts it far above the category of a simple aperitif. The minerality is not superficial, but rather like a fine thread running through the flavour experience - an echo of the glacial sediments on which the vines grow. The finish is remarkably persistent and leaves an impression of freshness and depth.

General information

The Fidora winery, a pioneer of biodynamic winemaking in the region, has been cultivating its vineyards according to the strict Demeter guidelines since 1974. The three wineries - in Valdobbiadene, Valpolicella and the headquarters in Civranetta in the Veneto - cover a total of 160 hectares, half of which are planted with vines.

This Rosé Brut Nature 2023 is a carefully composed cuvée of 90% Glera and 10% Pinot Nero. The Glera grape, the backbone of every Prosecco, finds ideal conditions in the clayey alluvial soils. The mineral-rich soils give the wine structure, while the cooling sea breezes ensure slow, flavourful ripening - a perfect interplay of terroir and climate that is expressed in this wine.

Food pairing suggestions

The versatility of this Prosecco Rosé is surprising. It harmonises excellently with Venetian seafood like Scampi all'aglio or Sarde in Saor. The fine acidity structure makes it the ideal accompaniment for Antipasti with grilled vegetables and young goat's cheese. Also to vitello tonnato or a Risotto with radicchio it shows itself from its best side. Its elegance and precision allow it to handle even more complex dishes such as Pasta with seafood or Light fish dishes without losing its identity.
