Introduction to wine
The grapes that serve as the basis for this magnificent estate Riesling originate in the highly esteemed vineyards of Pünderich. The harvest, depending on the vintage, usually takes place between mid and late October. After a careful maceration period and a gentle pressing, the spontaneous fermentation begins, partly favoured by old Fuder barrels.
Visual impression
Looking at the 2022 Pündericher Riesling Kabinett in the glass, the light straw-yellow hue is striking, with a striking green sheen running through it.
Fragrance impressions
At the same time, the wine entices with its attractive bouquet, reminiscent of wonderfully fresh limes, crisp green apples, juicy white peaches, blossoming elderberries and the coolness of fresh mint. Smoky aromas and stony notes dominate the first impression. Such a drop promises the arrival of glorious summer days.
Taste impressions
The tongue reveals a wonderful liveliness and playful elegance of this wine. With its wonderful interplay of sweetness and acidity, it literally chiffonies over the taste buds. Finest minerality and a delicate salt note give it an impressive backbone. The low alcohol content of just 7.5 vol% makes for enthusiasm and whets the appetite for more of this silky and multi-faceted drop. A wine that is nibbled so quickly that the bottle is empty in no time - a terrific experience!
Alternative court recommendations
This Riesling is excellent paired with rice sushi balls accompanied by paksoi, pomelo and shiitake mushrooms, or with a sea wolf carpaccio garnished with lemon and basil. For the light-footed, we recommend pairing this wine with stuffed tartelettes hosting a fennel and surimi salad.
