Sparkling cherry red with subtle orange to brown reflections and light rim

Nose

The nose could be described as quite typical Piedmont in the classic sense. Earthy nuances meet dark fruits with plenty of spice. The Via Nuova site cuvée beguiles with ripe plum, elderberry and cassis as well as a little sweet cherry. Blackberry, raspberry and mulberry resonate only discreetly in the background. It lives on balsamic notes reminiscent of warm leather. Delicately roasted coffee beans appear next to melted nougat. A hint of roasted hazelnut adds intensity. Very delicately, it makes you think of forest floor and dried porcini mushrooms. It has a subtle note of lovage and marjoram. Juniper, cubeb pepper and a little white pepper round it off with ethereal excursions.

Palate

On the palate, it reveals an enormously seductive interplay of fruit, acidity and finest tannins. At first, the fruit is enormously juicy in the foreground. Animating and demanding at the same time. The berries come out extremely charming in combination with the spicy nuances. The acidity then takes hold and gives the fruit a run for its money. The acidity not only pushes the wine, but also makes for a much cooler impression than the warm 2018 vintage would suggest. The tannin then comes through in fine form and quite grippy. Supported by the nutty and earthy aromas, the tannin comes across as mature. Very fine-pored and just melting away on the palate. The finish is elegant and delicate. The nutty and earthy aromas now dominate the taste in the finish. It suddenly comes across as strikingly slender and stimulates the flow of saliva excellently, so that we crave for more.
