Tasting note
Wine information
The Les Pieds Rôtis is a Chenin Blanc that essentially comes from a vineyard formerly produced under the Touraine appellation but now as Chinon AOP. The vineyard is located on the other side of the Vienne and is actually called Les Pieds Rôtis - thegrilledFeet. It is a cru characterised by its terroir of gravel, fossil sponges, red clay (hence red feet) and white limestone on a south-east facing slope. After whole-cluster pressing, the Chenin Blanc was fermented spontaneously in wood and, after malolactic fermentation, matured for eleven months on the lees in 400-litre barrels.
Color
light golden yellow
Nose
The 2022sLes Pieds Rôtis subtle and delicate with light tobacco, rock and herbal spice, some aniseed and liquorice as well as subtle notes of pears and yellow apples.
Palate
On the palate the Les Pieds Rôtis clear as a bell and rich in finesse. It has also become much more subtle here than in previous years. The fruit is ripe, but still crisp with pomaceous fruit, some citrus and yellow plum. It is a transparent and clear wine with only very slight hints of wood, a clear but beautifully integrated spiciness and a creamy character in which the acidity builds up a beautiful tension.
