Wine description for Bourgogne blanc AOC 2023 by Trapet Père & Fils

Colour & Appearance
Pale straw yellow with a silvery shimmer at the rim – a classic appearance for young Burgundy Chardonnay, promising freshness and vibrancy.
Nose
Youthfully exuberant and inviting: yellow apple, peach and apricot dominate, underpinned by brioche and green almond. A subtle floral accent in the top notes lends additional finesse to the bouquet. The yeast notes point to careful cellar work without being intrusive – a wine that brings immediate pleasure.
Palate
Here Trapet’s philosophy shines through in pure form: light-footed, juicy and refreshingly uncomplicated. The wine flows with elegant grace across the palate, the fruit remains present but never heavy, defined by a fine, slightly austere structure. At 12.5% alcohol perfectly balanced – a Burgundy that doesn’t demand attention, but charmingly accompanies.
Finish
Medium-length and refreshing, with lingering fruit and a subtle minerality that recalls the pebbles of the Marsannay vineyard sites.
Terroir & Origin
The grapes come from two parcels in Marsannay („En Auvonne“ and „En Varangée“), thriving on well-drained, chalky-clay soils with fine pebbles. Optimal exposure ensures physiological ripeness at moderate alcohol levels – typical of the cooler climate in northern Burgundy.
Grape Variety & Vinification
100% Chardonnay, vinified in the classic Burgundian style. The subtle yeast notes hint at bâtonnage, without oak overwhelming the fruit – a purist approach that gives terroir pride of place.
Food Pairing Recommendations
The perfect everyday companion: pan-fried white fish, scallops, goat’s cheese, poultry salad or simply oysters. Also an excellent choice with asparagus with hollandaise sauce or herb risotto.
Special Features
A Bourgogne blanc that proves entry-level wines from Burgundy need not be dull. Trapet Père & Fils, renowned for their biodynamic Grands Crus, bring the same care to their basic appellation – and you can taste it.
