Wine information
For this wine, Boris Champy used Pinot Noir from the Le Clou parcel in Nantoux. The parcel is located at 377 metres above sea level. Its soil is characterised by white clay with a high proportion of limestone marl. All in all, this is a very stony vineyard, which Boris has chosen as his Châteauneuf designated. Boris Champy's vineyards were partly planted in the 1980s with a vine density of over 10,000 in lyra and Guyot training. He only de-stemmed a small part of the grapes, 70 % of which are whole bunches. However, due to the vintage, which had botryrtis, Champy de-stemmed the grapes completely, treated the styles with sulphur and formed a millefeuille from layers of de-stemmed grapes and rape to ferment the grapes. He extracted gently and aged the wine in barrels for twelve months, but a portion of 30 % in new wood.
Color
intense purple
Nose
Boris Champys 2021s Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Beaune "Altitude 377 Le Clou" is dark with lots of spice and some incense over a fruit of red cherries, plums and wild strawberries. There is also a little graphite, rock and mint on elegant and discreetly used wood.
Palate
On the palate the Le Clou 377 a fine tannin that coats the dark fruit. The acidity is lively and provides pressure. The wine has a pleasant melt, the third of new wood is very well integrated and provides depth. This is a wine with substance.
