Wine Description for Behind the Busch Pétillant Naturel Méthode Ancestrale 2024 by Flo Busch

Character
A lively, unadorned Pétillant Naturel that embodies the renaissance of natural winemaking in Languedoc. Flo Busch works according to the Méthode Ancestrale – the oldest method for producing sparkling wine, in which fermentation is completed in the bottle without the addition of sugar or yeast. The result is an uncomplicated, honest wine with fine bubbles that captures the pure fruit of the Grenache grape. The low residual sweetness points to a dry, refreshing character – a wine that puts spontaneity and drinking pleasure front and centre.
Terroir & Origin
Languedoc has developed into a hotspot for innovative, artisanal winemakers in recent years. The region offers ideal conditions for healthy grapes with its Mediterranean climate, abundant sunshine and characteristic Mistral winds. Flo Busch harnesses these natural advantages for a minimalist approach in the cellar. The soils of Languedoc – often characterised by limestone, slate and galets – lend the wines minerality and structure, even when vinified with a light touch.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Grenache is one of the defining grape varieties of southern French winemaking and shows itself here from its most accessible side. The variety typically brings red berry fruit, spice and a silky-soft texture. With the Méthode Ancestrale, the first, alcoholic fermentation is completed in the bottle, resulting in natural carbonation – without disgorging, without dosage. This makes these wines unadorned, lively snapshots of a vintage. Flo Busch’s artisanal approach stands for authenticity and respect for the natural winemaking process.
Food Pairing Suggestions
An ideal aperitif wine that also pairs beautifully with charcuterie, grilled vegetables or tapas. The freshness and liveliness harmonise wonderfully with goat’s cheese, olives or Mediterranean starters. Also an uncomplicated choice with pizza or light pasta dishes.
