Description:

Appearance:
Looking at the glass, the deep garnet red of the 2017 Barolo Mosconi by Chiara Boschis & E. Pira & Figli is revealed, refreshed with a hint of purple and subtle brightening towards the rim.

Odour:
After opening, the powerful fragrance floods the room. A clever interplay of aromas presents itself - tobacco, wood smoke, cinnamon, cardamom and freshly ground black pepper marry with the sweetness of wild raspberries, black cherries, dates and figs. Spicy undertones of dark chocolate and liquorice together with hints of Assam tea create depth. Mediterranean herbs like rosemary and thyme add a refreshing note that lightens up this powerful drop.

Taste:
The first sip presents powerful dark fruit notes on the tongue. Real blackberries, plums and sloes come into action, highlighted by ripe, yet youthful tannins and an invigorating acidity. A harmonious and consistent Barolo that has enormous ageing potential and will develop perfectly with a little patience and maturing time.

Serving suggestions:
For those who wish to enjoy this wine in its youthful stage, decanting at least two to three hours in advance is suggested, served in a generous Burgundy glass.

Food recommendations:
How about a glazed lamb with mint and roasted turnip vegetables? For vegetarians, a hearty aubergine gratin with pomegranate could be an alternative. For dessert, we recommend chocolate truffles with raspberry sauce.
