Tasting note
Character
This Nebbiolo in the generous magnum bottle showcases the raw, vibrant soul of Piedmont. Shaped by the uncompromising patience of the Sottimano estate, the wine presents itself with a robust structure, striking yet beautifully integrated tannins, and a clear, unadulterated berry fruit. A wine of aristocratic serenity that does not need to be loud to linger in the memory.
Terroir & Origin
The grapes originate from the hills surrounding the renowned communes of Neive and Treiso in the Barbaresco area. Grown in vineyards that have been consistently farmed organically for over forty years, the wine reflects the authentic terroir of the region. Occasionally, grapes from the premium single vineyard site Basarin are blended in when the estate decides to declassify, pushing the quality of this Langhe Nebbiolo to the absolute peak.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Crafted from one hundred per cent of the noble Nebbiolo grape. The vinification follows the purist philosophy of Andrea Sottimano: an extremely slow, traditional spontaneous fermentation with wild yeasts and an extended maceration period on the skins bestow the wine with its striking texture. It is bottled unfiltered and unfined, fully preserving its natural energy and the fine typicity of the old vines.
Food Pairings
A classic food partner that pairs excellently with traditional Piedmontese dishes. Outstanding with braised beef, fine pasta dishes with fresh truffle, or a hearty wild boar jus. Also a perfect match for mature Pecorino.
