The 2019 Zweigelt shows typical fruit on the nose, blackberry, elderberry, plum, sloe, underpinned by lots of earthy notes reminiscent of boxwood and forest foliage. Drinking animation is also the theme on the palate, with lots of fresh fruit, fine fruit sweetness and polished tannin.

Info about the wine

On the one hand, there is Gföhler gneiss, the primary rock from which the hills of the Kamptal were formed. On top of this is brown earth, sometimes with a limestone layer in between. On the other hand, there is loess, fly ash from the ice age, which has compacted into fertile soil. And finally, the clay soils that lie directly on the banks of the rivers.

Vinification info

Selective hand harvest in 20 kg crates at the beginning and middle of September. After a maceration period of 3 weeks, fermentation was carried out with wild yeasts in steel tanks at a maximum of 31°C. This was followed by ageing in large used 1,200 l and 600 l oak barrels. Bottling took place in March 2020.

Color

Intense violet red with purple reflections.

Nose

The 2019 Zweigelt shows typical fruit on the nose, blackberry, elderberry, plum, sloe, underpinned by lots of earthy notes reminiscent of boxwood and forest foliage. Very nice pepper note and a hint of cocoa. A red wine that already encourages drinking in the aroma.

Palate

Drinking animation is also the theme on the palate, with lots of fresh fruit, fine fruit sweetness and polished tannin. This charmer is best enjoyed chilled with spicy snacks and grilled dishes. Makes you happy and hungry for more, great price-value ratio.
