Wine Description for Weisser Burgunder Trocken 2023 by Ökonomierat Rebholz

Colour & Appearance
Pale golden yellow with lively green reflections – a promising sign of freshness and youthfulness.
Nose
Rebholz demonstrates here how Pinot Blanc should smell: pear and quince set the tone, accompanied by green apple and the delicate sweetness of honeydew melon. Beneath this, a fascinating layer of fresh white bread, almonds and a hint of anise – complexity without effort. The grape variety has been brought out with a sure hand, typical yet characterful.
Palate
Here the wine delivers on the promise of the nose. The pale fruit unfolds with perfect balance between delicate fruit sweetness and refreshing acidity. On the mid-palate, a spicy note develops, lending the wine tension and depth. At 13% alcohol, it shows substance without heaviness – a Pinot Blanc that combines drinkability with structure.
Finish
Medium-length and invigorating, with lingering spice and a fresh, clean finale. The fruit remains present without becoming obtrusive.
Terroir & Origin
From Siebeldingen in the South Palatinate, where the Rebholz estate ranks among Germany’s leading addresses. The chalky soils and mild climate of the region create ideal conditions for elegant, mineral-driven Pinot Blancs with backbone.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Pinot Blanc in its Palatinate expression – clear, fresh, vinified with the precision typical of Rebholz. The wine shows the Burgundian signature of the house: purity before opulence, elegance before power.
Food Pairing Suggestions
A true all-rounder, as the tasting note rightly observes. Excellent with pan-fried sea fish, pike-perch or plaice, equally suited to veal schnitzel, asparagus with hollandaise sauce, goat’s cheese or vegetable quiche. Also a pleasure on its own.
Special Features
An entry-level wine that demonstrates why Rebholz enjoys its reputation: even in the basic range, work is carried out with care and skill. Anyone wishing to understand Pinot Blanc should start here.
