The wines from Francesco Cirelli's La Collina series come from organic contract farming of surrounding farms. Although the namesake Trebbiano d'Abruzzo is on the label, most of the wines under this label of origin are pressed from Trebbiano Toscano. The grapes are destemmed, followed by a 24-hour maceration in tanks. Then the must is gently pressed and fermented spontaneously in stainless steel. After four months on the lees, bottling takes place after a small addition of sulphur.
Color
Rich straw yellow, bright and clear.
Nose
Typical of the variety, uncomplicated and joyful, the 2022 Cirelli La Collina smells from the goblet with restrained fruit dominating the herbaceous aromas, camomile, sage and light tobacco, before some stone fruit appears in the extract. Apricot peel and peach pits are delicately citrusy contoured by orange zest and subtle yeast notes in the base.
Mouth
Marketed simply as Vino bianco, La Collina from 100% Trebbiano delivers on the palate what the nose promises. Rather timid on the nose, the wine is characterised by its tart aroma, carried by the recurring herbs, gently animating bitter notes of sage and mild, well-integrated acidity. A juicy Abruzzo for any occasion.
