Colour & appearance

Brilliant lemon yellow with lively green reflections that already herald the freshness and vitality of this exceptional Sauvignon Blanc.

Nose

A true Monument to complexity reveals itself on the nose. Tropical flavours of Passion fruit and mango merge with Grilled pineapple, while Apricot and peach provide stony elegance. The 30-month maturation on the lees gives the wine a remarkable seriousness and acts as a real terroir enhancer. The chalky subsoil of the Zieregg site shimmers through with minerality, underpinned by a multi-layered bouquet of herbs and spices. Mint, coriander, thyme and lemon balm.

Palate

Orchestral grandeur unfolds on the palate. The wine builds up slowly, only to powerful intensity to inspire. Fruit, minerality, flavour and freshness are in perfect balance. Despite its density and concentration, it remains elegant and dancing, never ponderous. The yeasty notes have a harmonising effect, while a subtle spiciness sets striking, animating accents. Racy, filigree and characterised by almost infinite length.

General information

Aus der Parzelle “Kapelle” der Großen STK-Lage Zieregg, direkt unterhalb der Karmeliter Kapelle gelegen. Die 18 Jahre alten Reben wachsen auf wasserabweisendem Ton-Lehm-Boden über Korallenkalk in 470 Metern Höhe. Spontanvergärung und 30-monatiger Ausbau in alten Eichenfässern, ungefiltert abgefüllt.

Food pairing suggestions

Perfect for grilled monkfish, Scallops or Goat's cheese with herbs. Also to Asian dishes with coriander and ginger is an excellent choice.

Special features

A Sauvignon Blanc of monumental class that perfectly reflects Tement's signature and the unique terroir of southern Styria. The long ageing on the lees gives it a maturity and complexity that goes far beyond what you would expect from this grape variety.
