Information about the wine:

The Sulz vineyard is a closed, quite warm basin site with loamy Opok lime marl soils. The vineyard lies at an altitude of 380 to 490 metres. The Kriewetz sub-vineyard, where there are chalky limestone deposits, is the oldest parcel with vines from the 1960s. The wine was fermented spontaneously to a residual sugar of 1.5 grams with 6.0 grams of acidity, then aged for 24 months on the fine lees in neutral barriques and bottled unfiltered.

Nose:

The Morillon in the Riede Sulz has a completely independent nose, which in the first moments reminds one above all of herbs and vegetables with a little fennel. However, this note fades in favour of ripe oranges with their zests, in favour of some lemongrass, yellow apple and light tobacco. All this is underpinned by crushed stone. The Chardonnay appears highly elegant, has depth and substance.

Palate

:
On the palate, the Morillon becomes a powerful, highly elegant and refined wine. At first, one thinks to taste something red berry, further a trace of wood and tobacco, even some juniper as well as dried garden herbs and dried fruit. On the palate, a creamy texture combines with a bit of tannin to create a silky feel. The Chardonnay is impressively deep, long, charming and very juicy at that. The acidity is not that noticeable here at first, but balances the wine superbly. This wine has greatness!
