Foradori Teroldego Rotaliano Sgarzon 2016
Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGT
Teroldego Rotaliano from the Sgarzon vineyard in Campo Rotaliano, Mezzolombardo. 2.5 hectares on sandy alluvial alluvium. Aged for eight months on the skins in Spanish cellar amphorae, so-called tinajas.
From the pair of brothers Morei and Sgarzon is the Sgarzon always the somewhat brighter, wilder and cooler wine, which is no wonder, since it comes from a cool location. Notes of sloe, pomegranate, ivy, herbs and a hint of raw meat dominate here, along with some stone and also a little juicy ripe elderberry.
On the palate there is tension and the fine but present tannin that comes unmistakably from the aging in the amphora. It seems almost like the finely rubbed surface of a fired clay layer. The wine's acidity is youthful and demanding, the fruit cool, juicy, reminiscent of sour cherries and sloes. The structure is earthy, lively and very mineral, yet already with a hint of elegance that will increase over the next few years.
