Out of stock

Sour cherries and red currants provide a pithy, yet distinctive fruit that is carried by the lively acidic nerve into a long finish. Gradually, a few red berries emerge, currants and blackberries, both very restrained and by no means fully ripe.

Color

Bright purple red with violet reflections.

Nose

The nose of the 2013 Sgarzon from Foradori is completely closed at first. If you want to drink it now, you should double decant it and start the next day. At first, floral notes, violets, some mallow and goutweed, and some hazelnut shells show up cautiously. Gradually, a few red berries emerge, currants and blackberries, both very restrained and by no means fully ripe.

Mouth

On the palate, the wine shines with impressive freshness. Contrary to the previous vinification in amphorae followed by acacia barrel aging, this vintage has not seen any wood. Instead, after maceration, the marc was carefully moved down and the wine was put back into amphorae before being gently drawn off afterwards. As a result, 2013 brings an impressive freshness to the bottle. Sour cherries and red currants provide a pithy, yet distinctive fruit that is carried by the lively acidic nerve into a long finish. The tannins are very fine and are supported by a vibrant minerality. A wine where patience will pay off.
