Weinbeschreibung für Rully 1er Cru blanc “Grésigny” 2022 von A. et P. de Villaine
Terroir and background
Der Rully 1er Cru “Grésigny” entstammt einem der weniger bekannten, aber zunehmend geschätzten Terroirs des Burgunds. Die Weinberge von Rully, im nördlichen Teil der Côte Chalonnaise gelegen, bieten einen faszinierenden Einblick in das, was man als das other Burgundy less in the limelight than the big names of the Côte d'Or, but with its own unmistakable voice. The A. et P. de Villaine winery, under the direction of Aubert de Villaine, the long-time co-director of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, pursues a philosophy of precise winemaking that is true to the terroir.
Nose
In the youth of the 2022 vintage, this Chardonnay presents itself with a understated elegance. The nose reveals fine notes of green apple and citrus fruit, underlaid with subtle hints of white flowers and a mineral freshness reminiscent of damp limestone - a characteristic feature of Rully's best vineyards.
Palate
On the palate, the wine shows a remarkable Precision and clarity. The moderate residual sweetness emphasises the dry, focused character. The wine moves with a certain tension between juicy fruit and taut acidity. Pear, lemon zest and a hint of hazelnut interweave to create a complex flavour that is rounded off by a subtle, unobtrusive mineral note. The ageing - presumably partly in French oak - gives the wine structure without masking its origin.
Outlook and potential
Food pairing suggestions
This wine calls for dishes that respect its precision. Seafood in reduced saucesA simple Poulet de Bresse or even a young Comté would be ideal accompaniments. The wine's restraint allows it to shine as an accompaniment without dominating - a quality that has become all too rare in today's wine world.
