Wine Description for Riesling Wineck-Schlossberg Grand Cru AC 2020 from Domaine Albert Mann

Colour & Appearance
Pale straw yellow, clear and luminous in the glass – a Riesling that already promises finesse on the eye.
Nose
Remarkably delicate and almost ethereal. The wine reveals ripe Riesling aromas with a hint of muscat, along with ripe and mellow apples, yellow pears and a subtle salted lemon note. Flowers and herbs complete the filigree aromatic profile. One immediately has the impression of something special – a wine that impresses through its restraint.
Palate
The elegance of the nose continues on the palate, but gains considerably in intensity and precision. The granite soil shapes this Riesling fundamentally: it brings a crystalline, vibrant acidity structure and an incomparable minerality that clearly sets it apart from other Rieslings from the domaine. Pure energy runs through the wine – yet nothing sharp, nothing austere. Instead: fine, elegant, almost silky in texture. A Grand Cru that combines power with finesse.
Finish
Long, mineral and precise. The granite tension carries far, without ever becoming aggressive – a finale that invites the next sip.
Terroir & Origin
The Wineck-Schlossberg extends over 27.49 hectares between Katzenthal and Ammerschwihr, at 280 to 400 metres altitude. The south-south-easterly exposure with granite-rich soils lies sheltered in a small valley basin – a microclimate that produces Rieslings of extraordinary finesse. The vines from the years 1957, 1966 and 1974 are in the transition phase towards biodynamic certification.
Food Pairing Suggestions
This filigree Grand Cru harmonises beautifully with radish carpaccio with soured cream and olive oil, risotto with prawns and limes or saithe with anise-lemon beurre-blanc and spring vegetables. The crystalline acidity handles richer fish dishes with ease.
Special Features
The second vintage of this Grand Cru from Domaine Albert Mann – the first was bottled exclusively in magnums and was extremely rare. A remarkable addition to the portfolio that demonstrates what granite soils can achieve in Alsace.
