Information about wine
This is the second vintage of this Grand Cru from the Wineck-Schlossberg. The first vintage was only released in magnums and was very rare. The vineyard covers 27.49 hectares in the communes of Katzenthal and Ammerschwihr. It stretches from 280 to 400 metres. The south-southeast exposure with its granite-rich soils lies in the hollow of a closed and wind-protected small valley. The vines date from 1957, 1966 and 1974 and are still in the transition phase to organic and biodynamic certification, as the vineyard was previously "only" farmed organically by the owner.
Color
pale straw yellow
Nose
The Riesling from the Wineck-Schlossberg is a delicate, fine, almost ethereal representative. It smells of ripe Riesling with a little nutmeg, of ripe and also mellow apples and yellow pears, of blossoms, herbs and a little salt lemon. But above all, one has the impression of having something very fine in the glass.
Palate
This impression is confirmed on the palate, where the wine remains just as delicate but gains in intensity. Above all, the granite of the soil brings a crystalline, vibrant and incomparable acidity structure and minerality to the wine that sets it apart from all other Mann's Rieslings. This is pure energy, but not sharp, not barren, not cutting, but fine, elegant and almost silky. This Riesling is a remarkably beautiful addition to the portfolio.
