Nose
Bright, citrusy and fragrant, this Riesling from 80-year-old vines in the Steiner Schreck. Besides lemon and lime notes, it is blossoms of roses, red and white currants as well as some stone, fennel and lemon verbena that characterize the almost floating light Riesling.
Palate
The old vines show through in the relaxed acidity and deep minerality that defines the Riesling. The Riesling from the Steiner Schreck is light and bright, fresh and punchy and yet so laid backas one can only be with a lot of life experience. Since the winemakers have not been around that long, it is probably the Riesling itself that sets the pace here and to which the restrained winemakers have submitted - thanks to the wine. The tension, the fine saltiness and the mineral pressure already provide for a lot of drinking flow and also well-being. However, this is likely to increase in the next few years.
