The history of the Rebholz family dates back to the 16th century. The estate owes its current name to Eduard Rebholz, who held the title of Ökonomierat (Agricultural Councillor). A trained forester, it was also he who countered the contemporary trend of artificially sweetened wines with the concept of unfined “Naturwein” (natural wine). Today, his grandson Hansjörg Rebholz resolutely carries on the philosophy of strictly dry wines. His wines, which often seem somewhat inaccessible in their youth, are characterised by immense ageing potential and consequently need time to reveal their full class. In particular, the premier sites “Kastanienbusch” and “Im Sonnenschein” demonstrate the impressive leading position of this tradition-steeped producer.
