Playing jazz, living through it and doing it justice can only be done by a person who understands his instrument and has mastered classical music. Quite without demanding it, the red-haired pianist, named Pinot Freyheit, has the slightly dimmed room in her grip with velvety grace and attached to her sounds with beguiling tension.

Color

The wine presents itself in bright ruby red with garnet rim and translucent core clear and shiny in the glass.

Nose

Graceful and gallant, prancing in cautious yet sure-footed motion, this free-spirited Pinot Noir celebrates the beauty of its own fragility. Red-berried, yet held in check by peppery-peaty herbal spice and delicately toasty malt, it reveals its delicately distinguished character that disinterestedly harbors greatness.

The Pinot Freyheit is at home in many worlds. It pays homage to the berry fruit in its bright red face. It worships the earth from which it comes and which sustains it. It reaches for the sun and celebrates the air-filled space where the beauty of idleness has found a sheltered home.

Palate

Velvety, subtle tannins and an arc of cool acidity fall into its seductive favor, weaving a tightly woven tapestry of sparse mica slate and cozy bliss.

The 2017 Pinot Freyheit from Heike and Gernot Heinrich is as sophisticated as it is frugal, and ultimately just a very good drink.

One that, if enjoyed in appreciative company, can be enriching in small ways.

Enriching and changeable with the simplicity of a dandelion.

With colourful flower. With lush leaves. With weightless seed in unpredictable play with the wind.

Or in other words

True Jazz.

Playing, living through and doing justice to jazz can only be done by a person who understands his instrument and has mastered classical music.

Quite without demanding it, the red-haired pianist, named Pinot Freyheit, has the slightly dimmed room in her grip with velvety grace and attached to her sounds with beguiling tension. As she playfully, yet filled with haunting soul, switches back and forth between white and black keys; between major and minor; between forte and piano, the world spins sometimes a little slower and sometimes a little faster....

Pinot Freyheit, you are music to my mouth, making it across my palate to my heart.
