Wine Description for Pianvecchio IGT 2024 by Tenuta di Carleone

Colour & Appearance
Pale straw yellow, luminous and crystal clear – a wine that signals freshness and precision from the moment it touches the glass.
Nose
Remarkably disciplined and restrained for a blend with such a broad spectrum of varieties. After brief aeration, a light reduction dissolves and reveals a Tuscan-Mediterranean herb panorama: bay leaf, rosemary, a whisper of juniper. No overblown fruit bomb – here the provenance speaks, not the grape variety.
Palate
Juicy and surprisingly dense, it flows across the palate – a texture one simply doesn’t expect at 11.5% alcohol. Creamy smoothness, almost cradled in whipped cream, combines with vibrant, succulent fruit. The macchia remains present, complemented by the seductive sweetness of wild fennel pollen. Enormous extract with featherlight elegance – a rare feat.
Finish
Long, fresh and fading with a saline, mineral character. The herbal spice of the palate lingers on, never tiring.
Terroir & Origin
Named after the old farmhouse Pianvecchio directly below the estate in Tuscany. The grapes come from organically farmed parcels and are hand-harvested – a wine that takes its origins seriously.
Grape Variety & Vinification
A vintage-dependent blend of Trebbiano, Malvasia, Vermentino and portions of Gewürztraminer and Riesling. Spontaneous fermentation in concrete tanks and stainless steel, partly co-fermented. Maturation on the fine lees for several months – entirely unoaked. The result: maximum freshness, precision and terroir authenticity.
Food Pairing Suggestions
Ideal with grilled sea bass with herbs, vitello tonnato, bruschetta with tomatoes and basil or a Tuscan antipasto. Also of striking quality as an aperitif.
Special Characteristics
Originally produced exclusively for family and friends – only market pressure brought it into commercial distribution. A wine with character, integrity and a story you can taste with every sip.
