Color
Dark purple with a purple rim and opaque core, the wine is clear and bright in the glass.
Nose
The beauty of darkness.
The darkest and ripest blackberries and plums, as well as black cherries and sloes, have gathered to enjoy a fango pack in 75%iger dark chocolate. Finely woven into the stolid density of this wealth of aromas are earthy and nutty notes of toasted hazelnut and nougat, as well as red pepper, grilled red meat and a faint hint of warming cinnamon.
Palate
Classic, like Humphrey Bogart's "This is the beginning of a beautiful friendship", the first sip of the 2016 Piandorino from Pian dell' Orino feels homey, comforting and familiar.
Rich and expressive, dark and full of character, it shows itself proudly on the palate. A berry-fruity beginning leads to a broad-shouldered appearance with dense and fleshy tannin. The powerful and substantial wine is by far not for light wine drinkers, but shines through the amazing balance of a perpetual motion machine.
