“We want nothing more and nothing less than to produce wines that consist only of earth, sun, air and water,” is the motto of Anita and Hans Nittnaus. The charming winemaking couple from Gols on Lake Neusiedl are among the biodynamic pioneers of Burgenland. Nature determines the character of their wines, with a focus on origin and vineyard characteristics. The 42 hectares of vineyards are planted with 90% red wine and the remainder with white wine grape varieties. The family cultivates vineyards not only around Gols, but also on the other side of Lake Neusiedl, in the Leithaberg hills. Here, on shell limestone, mica schist and quartzite, highly terroir-driven, mineral wines mature.
