Color
The wine shows itself in bright straw-yellow with white-golden reflexes and a discreet yeast cloudiness brilliantly in the glass.
Nose
It comes along boldly in a naturally cloudy guise. Yeasty and musty as an outstandingly quick-witted answer to a cool Hefeweizen in wine form, the Neuburger Freyheit shows itself with the yellow-fleshed fruit of a covered fruit cake. Yellow apple, quince and just a mull of bright sultines. The fragrant lightness of meadow herbs, such as the blossoms of yarrow or lemon balm, as well as the invigorating freshness of grapefruit zest give this Neuburger with its strong character a powerful self-confidence and let it rise like a phoenix from the ashes.
Palate
With its dense aromas and smooth texture, the 2017 Neuburger Freyheit from Gernot and Heike Heinrich fills the palate with space and refreshes it at the same time. With, figuratively speaking, tingling acidity and the thirst-quenching juiciness of biting into a freshly picked and halved orange, it spiritedly awakens body and mind and definitely keeps you in good spirits. The wine, which came into the bottle in full contact with its natural yeast, shines with tension and is a work of vinophile expressionism through its benevolent courage to be different and its free handling of colour and form.
