Information about the wine:
The 2017 Morillon (Chardonnay) comes from shell limestone, limestone marl and clay soils of the Zieregg, Sulz, Wielitsch and Ottenberg sites. Spontaneous fermentation and slow fermentation down to 1.3 grams of residual sugar in large wooden barrels, followed by aging for twelve months in large wooden barrels on the fine lees, then another six months in stainless steel. As frost destroyed around 85 % of the blossom in 2017, grapes from the best plots of the top site Zieregg were also added to the estate wine in order to be able to offer this wine in anywhere near sufficient quantities. Quality for the benefit of the base characterizes the Tements and should be particularly emphasized here.
Color:
White gold
Nose:
Tements 2017s Morillon shell limestone is distinguished by its very own character. This is composed of an aroma of fresh as well as already crumbly apples including peels, a breath of dry wood, of ripe lemons as well as a slightly exotic note, which is accompanied by some roasted almonds.
Palate:
On the palate, the underlying power of the Morillon is evident, but also the delicacy and elegance of this variety. Silky and finely woven is the texture, juicy and bright the white and yellow fleshy aromas of the pome fruit, fresh and invigorating the slightly green citrus fruit. It is a Chardonnay that already appears coherent and harmonious, but definitely still has potential.
