Out of stock

Lean with a wide acidity range, it does not remain in the chocolate-sweet complaisance of many Maurys, but is of fascinating spiciness in harmony with the notes of dried fruits such as dates and figs. Balsamic notes of rosemary and sandalwood as well as gingerbread and honey prunes complement the rich, no, lavish nose.

Color

Rust red with orange reflexes and brown fading edge.

Nose

Notes of English celery and lovage jump right out of the glass when we smell into the 1996 Milésime from Terres de Fagayra. Underpinned by light tobacco spice, white pepper, juniper and bay leaf, the fruit of this Maury is candied or dried. Balsamic notes of rosemary and sandalwood, as well as gingerbread and honeyed prunes, complement the rich, nay, lavish nose.

Mouth

On the nose, the Maury from 100% Grenache Noir from the slate is, like all wines from Marjorie and Stéphane Gallet, of great finesse and transparency. Lean with a wide acidic arc, it does not linger in the chocolate-sweet complaisance of many Maury's, but is intriguingly spicy in harmony with notes of dried fruits like dates and figs. With well-filed ripe notes, taut feel and moderate alcohol, it is not only for desserts, but also for meat dishes with pronounced roasted notes an extraordinary, but quite adequate companion.

Food recommendations from Sebastian Bordthäuser
