Tasting note
- Colour & Appearance
- A dense, luminous cherry red, laced with shimmering reflections and distinct violet nuances at the rim.
- Nose
- Far removed from simple primary fruit, this is a mature, aristocratic wine. Aromas of blackberry, elderberry, as well as sweet and sour cherry appear settled and calm. Behind this, a complex, almost mystical panorama unfolds: earthy tones of beetroot and damp forest floor combine with ethereal notes of pine needles, juniper, liquorice and fresh eucalyptus. A subtle, perfectly integrated hint of coconut delicately points to the use of oak.
- Palate
- On the palate, the wine is dark, rich and immediately gripping. The tight-knit, fine-grained tannin gently coats the mouth, bringing noble bitter notes that give the wine a distinctive profile. The dark fruit is permanently balanced by savoury, balsamic and herbaceous components. Despite its undeniable concentration, the wine feels astonishingly weightless, delicate and shot through with an animating freshness.
- Finish
- In the finish, the vibrant freshness emerges even more clearly. The wine bids farewell with cool, ethereal nuances and a fine astringency that enormously stimulates the drinking flow.
- Terroir & Origin
- This wine originates from the heart of the Priorat, more precisely from the organically farmed parcels around the village of Gratallops. The vines root deeply into the barren, glittering Llicorella slate. This unique soil stores the heat of the day and releases it during the cool nights, giving the grapes their unique balance of power and elegance.
- Grape Variety & Vinification
- A cuvée of the classic varieties Grenache and Carignan, sensibly structured and complemented by Cabernet Sauvignon. The signature of winemaker Eva Escudé relies entirely on the quality of the grape in the vineyard, while gravity is used in the modern, landscape-integrated cellar to move the harvested grapes as gently as possible.
- Food Pairings
- Superb with braised leg of lamb with rosemary, hearty venison goulash or a classic pan-seared fillet of beef with a dark jus.
- Special Features
- The flagship of the estate fascinates with its stylistic balance: it conveys the typical, dark warmth of the Priorat without feeling heavy. Instead, it shines with an almost cool, balsamic elegance and great inner serenity.
