Colour
:
Straw yellow with onion skin coloured reflections.
Nose:
The nose of Lime & Slate is stringently on the spicy side: chamomile, herbal tea, sage and wild herbs and hay flowers mingle with broom, cedro lemon zest and the scent of a pine grove.
Mouth:
The 2018 Kalk & Schiefer is a blend of Welschriesling, Pinot Blanc, Grüner Veltliner and Chardonnay. With good punch and a biting attack, it is wonderfully lean and straightforward on the palate. The fresh acidic nerve shapes its sinewy stature, allowing it to rush across the palate at high speed despite its maturity. Finely spicy without much fruit decoration, a genuine fingerprint of the Leithaberg in the entry-level segment.
Food recommendations by Sebastian Bordthäuser:
- Bittersalad with orange-oil dressing, nuts and pomegranate seeds
(salads)
- Clams with lemon and coriander in olive oil white wine sauce
(seafood)
- Quails cooked in hay
(Game birds)
