    The story of Guillaume Sorbe

Guillaume Sorbe, the talented winemaker behind the winery Les Poëte, has its roots deep in the Reuilly appellation in the Centre Loire. The son of a winemaker who also worked as a chef and sommelier, Guillaume laid the foundations for his own winery in 2001. Today, the estate extends over 17 hectares, with only 6.45 hectares planted with vines. The rest? A beautiful piece of nature, populated by animals. La Revue du Vin de France praises the wines of Les Poëte as some of the most ambitious of the Centre Loire.

An independent spirit on its journey

Guillaume could have taken over the Jean-Michel Sorbe family winery in Brinay. But he decided to go his own way. After selling the family winery in 1999, he studied hotel and restaurant management and sommeliery in Bourges. His career began in gourmet restaurants, later as a sommelier in renowned restaurants. Along the way, he tended his grandfather's vines and studied oenology in Beaune. In 2007, he finally founded his own Domaine Les Poëte honouring his grandmother's maiden name, Esther Poëte.

    An ecosystem called Les Poëte

Guillaume follows an ecological and holistic approach. He believes in biodiversity and therefore has not only vines but also horses, sheep, bees and chickens on his estate. His vineyards are spread over 28 plots, including Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Sauvignon Blanc.

    The art of wine making

In Guillaume's cellar, each of the 28 plots is vinified and matured separately, with very little intervention. Most of the wines ferment in stainless steel, while younger creations like Le S des Poëte and Pouilly-Fumé mature in tank and partly in barrel. Particularly noteworthy are the crus that mature in 400- and 600-litre barrels and are only released three years after the harvest. The Pinot Noir, which is fermented as a whole bunch, is particularly noteworthy as it has the only wood imprint in the range.

Sorbe's wines are consistently sensual, powerful and expressive. Le S des Poëte exudes this sensuality, while the Pouilly-Fumé captivates with its forcefulness. The Toison d'Or is an outstanding Pinot Gris, and the Odyssée, a Pinot Noir, shows the impressive potential of this grape variety in the region.

Les Poëte is not just a winery, but a testament to Guillaume's passion, commitment and pursuit of perfection. It is a place where tradition and innovation go hand in hand to create exceptional wines. Les Poëte: Moins Mais Mieux (Less, but better)
